BIO

Hi dear, nice to meet you!

I was born in 1988 in Belgium, near Antwerp, and I am currently living in Carinthia, Austria.

Interior architect turned photographer; Aries; mother of three; sun-gazer; creative aesthete; thinker. What else? Driven by curiosity, kindness and coffee. On a lifelong, passionate pursuit of beauty, light and truth.

I share the pretty things life has to offer with my loved ones. I love skiing, mountain lakes, strolling through old cities, the evening sun, waterfalls, affogato, flea markets, ice skating, tennis, poetry, the seaside, architecture and good stories.

I graduated with a Master's degree in Interior Architecture but at that time I was already in love with the sound of the camera, passionate about analogue photography, obsessed with light, and running a street style photography blog named 'THE ECLECTICS' (yes, that was a thing in 2010).

I transitioned from the fashion photography scene into a wonderful and challenging adventure as a wedding photographer. Preserving love in soft smiles on the most beautiful faces, in the most wonderful and dreamy places is such a privilege.

Apart from capturing private smiles, I have been working as a visual storyteller for a collection of beautiful hotels offering not only photography but also art direction, styling and social media marketing - a beautiful and exciting opportunity to explore how humans engage with the spaces they (sub)consciously surround themselves with.

Even though I've been a professional photographer for fourteen years, I love to learn new things and experiment; I admit that I get a sense of unrest when I'm not being challenged. Speaking of challenges, becoming a mother truly shook the way I perceived the world; life, yes - pretty much everything. It made me strive for more authenticity and truth, whatever that means, while the children reminded me of the importance of staying childishly in love with the beauty of life. I try to live according to what these three miracles have taught me, but I'm mostly still figuring it out. After all, aren't we all?

Even though the times of my little street photography blog 'THE ECLECTICS' are long gone - as are the carefree days of strolling around Paris with a camera - whatever has happened in my life since, such as motherhood, moving to Austria, intense plot twists, and jumping blind into the unknown multiple times, has been far more beautiful than anything I could have ever imagined.

So, I decided to keep the name of that little blog to honor my 20-year-old self. A way to tell her that dreams come true; never, of course, in the way we imagined they would. But somehow, always even better - with beautiful plot twists - in ways we can only ever comprehend in retrospect.

X Charlotte
